Lucky Charms of Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan's nomadic heritage runs deep, and its charm traditions blend Sunni Islam with ancient Turkic shamanistic beliefs. The talisman of felt — specifically the shyrdak patterned felt rug with its auspicious ram-horn (kochkor muiz) motifs — is among the most distinctly Kyrgyz lucky objects, believed to protect the yurt and its inhabitants.
